We've all seen HGTV......great entertainment value, outstanding production and fun story lines. The newlywed couple with entry level careers has a 2 million dollar budget, looks at 3 houses, makes below asking price "offer" on 1 and then sits down at a nice restaurant awaiting their "Realtor" to find out if they got the house.......spoiler alert, they always do.
Such a painless and easy process, right? I believe it's the reason so many people take classes and become agents. Maybe they haven't seen a reality show but someone told them they are "great with people" or maybe they worked with an agent and thought "I can do this".
What I have found is that although this is a rather simple business, it is not easy. You have to be a self starter and accountable for yourself and your team. You've got to have a consistent schedule of growth-oriented activities that you execute routinely. You have to go above any beyond in the way you treat and care for your clients and professional partners. And, you've got to do all of this while keeping your cool when things don't go according to plan everyday. Those are the things that people should know because those are the things that lead to success. A simple business for sure, but not an easy one!
